The 2008 ICFM Annual Dinner
The 2008 ICFM Annual dinner was held at Castle Highclere, owned by world-famous Lord Carnarvon, who found, together with the archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922, the mummy of Tutankhamen. The mysterious deaths of 21 people who were somehow involved in this discovery still excite the minds of both scientists and believers.
The castle is located in the county of Berkshire, and still belongs to the Carnarvon family. The current owner of the Castle, Lady Carnarvon, wrote a book about the discovery and of her famous ancestor. This book got to the by-line for each member of the Assembly.
Some artefacts of the expedition were found in all the forgotten rooms of the castle just recently. Currently there is a small exhibition of Egyptian findings at the castle.
The Dinner was attended by 82 representatives from financial circles in Russia, Ukraine, Kahahstana, Azerbaijan, Latvia, Estonia and the UK. Arriving guests welcomed the Countess Carnarvon. 
At 19:30 the Patron of the ICFM, His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent arrived. Each member of the Assembly was presented to Prince Michael by the heads of delegations.
Dinner was served in the castle library.
A welcoming speech was given by the ICFM Director-General Garry Carter. He wished everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and also expressed confidence that the ICFM would rapidly develop its presence in the mentioned above countries and make a significant contribution to the profession of financial manager and financial director. At the end of his speech, Mr. Carter gave the traditional toast to the health of the British Queen.
After dinner, the traditional presentation of awards was held. Award nominees were presented by Prince Michael of Kent, after which he wished all present (in Russian) every success in professional activities.
Best Training Center of the Year was awarded to the Info-systems-Link centre from Azerbaijan.
Best Student 2008 was awarded to:
- Karina Aksholakova (Kazakhstan);
- Sergi Burhovetskiy (Ukraine);
- Irena Seppa (Estonia);
- Namik Oruev (Azerbaijan);
- Nigar Bayramova (Azerbaijan)
The Best Tutor of 2008:
- Oleksandr Papaika (Ukraine);
- Gulmira Nigmedzhanova (Kazakhstan);
Best Financial Manager 2008:
- Suleiman Gasimov (Azerbaijan);
- Olena Saloid (Ukraine) ;
"For merits in promoting the profession of Financial manager":
- Vera Ruchakovska (Ukraine).
After the solemn part of the meeting, participants were able to communicate informally with each other. Then, photos were taken with Prince Michael.
Besides visiting the meeting, delegates were able to meet with representatives of the IFRS and the London Stock Exchange in London.
