Status of membership in the Institute of Certified Financial Managers

1. The essence and conditions of membership

The ICFM members can become experts in the field of financial management, with professional knowledge and activities that comply with the ICFM rules and regulations.
 
The main ICFM requirements when admitting a Specialist as a Member include:

- Professional knowledge in financial management, certification in the ICFM training program or equivalent professional and educational institutions;

- Professional experience in public or commercial bodies within a specified period (not less than three years);


The main ICFM requirements of existing members include:

- The constant improvement of their skills individually or in the ICFM system of continuous professional growth (40 hours per year, which includes training courses, lectures and seminars, writing articles, and participating in forums and conferences);

- Compliance with standards of professional ethics, the main criteria of which are honesty to clients and employers and compliance with international and domestic legal norms.


2. Types of membership


 - Affiliate Member (AffICFM)- provided for those professionals who have begun the ICFM training program.
   - Associate Member (AICFM) - for professionals who have received the certificate of "Professional Financial Manager”
   - Full Member (FICFM) – for professionals who have received the certificate of “Certified Financial Manager”.
   - Fellow Member (FICFM) - provided for professionals who have received the certificate of "Professional Financial Officer.”

3. Term of membership

Membership in the ICFM is one year; to renew membership a specialist must document the reasonable degree of his or her expertise in accordance with approved programs of professional development for the region and past annual appraisal.

     
4. Documentation of membership in the ICFM

1. Applicants for membership are considered to be a member of the ICFM since the confirmation of candidate approval is in accordance with the established procedures; 

2. The member of the ICFM is awarded a certificate confirming membership in the ICFM; 

3. Information about membership in the ICFM is included in the registration of ICFM members on the ICFM - Eastern Europe site.


5. Member Attestation

Attestation of members is held annually. The initial phase of Attestation is conducted by the regional ICFM partners and in accordance with ICFM regulations and professional requirements for a specialist in this region.


6. Termination of the ICFM membership

ICFM Members may withdraw from ICFM membership at any time. To exercise this right, an ICFM member must submit a letter to the ICFM representative in his or her country. The request to withdraw must be accompanied by a document issued by the ICFM in support of membership in the ICFM. ICFM Membership is terminated after the decision about exclusion of the ICFM member has been made; in this case, the membership record is excluded from the ICFM Register.
