The ICFM CEO's message
Dear Colleagues,
Dear Colleagues, Today there is a growing number professional organizations representing accountants at all levels. Some of these have been working very successfully within the financial professions for many years, whilst others are much newer and have been created to represent new or specialist sectors in the financial sector.
The Institute of Certified Financial Managers(ICFM) has been established as the professional body for Financial Managers and Financial Directors working in commerce and industry. Professional financial managers play a key role in the success of businesses across a broad sector. They are vital to commercial success and the ICFM exists to provide professional recognition and career advancement through recognised qualifications, certification of achievement and on-going professional support.
The ICFM is the joint initiative of two long-standing professional bodies: the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers, the largest professional organization of its kind in the world, which has registered in excess of 240,000 students and members from more than seventy countries around the world; and The Institute of Commerce, one of the oldest British professional bodies – which celebrated its hundredth anniversary in 2007.
The ICFM will contribute to the development of the financial profession by providing a professional career structure for financial managers and directors that properly reflects the new demands placed upon them by the globalization of the financial sector and the need of every successful enterprise to compete on a world platform.
Every enterprise needs sound financial management and direction. Programs developed by the ICFM demand the high standards expected of the profession and substantial interest is already being experienced from across the world, including the UK, Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa.
The ICFM was created by professionals for professionals. It was established to ensure that financial managers and directors achieve professional qualifications and recognition. It exists to support them throughout their career.
